I had such a delightful experience today. And it all happened during a 1-hour break from work.
I went to a nearby office where I usually have my lunch when it’s impossible for me and elce to go to lunch together. Let’s call her ate Belen. Tapping softly at the door, I heard her voice which was somehow like talking to someone on the phone. Just within a minute or two, she opened the door. Ate Belen’s demeanor somewhat seemed unusual. She was quiet and busy about something very important, very different from her happy disposition. Without making much hush, I sat myself on one of their comfy leather chairs and started to take my late lunch. I was trying to savor the taste of my two pieces chicken wings and a leg, all fried, while eavesdropping.
I was a bit concerned. After a while, her face suddenly lit up and the tension i sensed a while back eased off.
So i broke the silence and asked her if she’d taken her lunch which she gaily replied to. Then I asked her if she’s going home for Christmas. She said no. Until I blurted out something that overwhelmed us both. I asked her if marriage ever crossed her mind.
Ah, now i know the trick!
Topics about this universal phenomenon can really break barriers huh?!
She said yes, “in His own time”. She said she can’t push herself way into love as much as she wants to. I told her that risks must be taken for love to happen. Then she told me, “the Lord knows the desires of my heart, I know He will give him to me, in His own time, after all, I am not in a hurry”.
That struck me – she strongly believes in God’s miracles. She continued on to tell me stories about a couple who came from different worlds, got estranged for years, and yet still ended up together and are happily married now. On that note, I asked, “will the Lord still give me someone I deserve?”. Without any hesitation, she looked straight into my eyes and said, “the Lord knows your heart, and in God’s eyes, there is no small or great sinner when it comes to blessings”. She continued on to say, “just delight yourself in Him, love will find you”.
These are God’s little miracles everyday. Moments like these may, to some, get unnoticed, but to me, God continues to touch and move me especially at times when I least expect Him to. God never fails to perk up my ordinary days!
I had to pack up and leave, so I bade her goodbye and left.
Hearing the clicking sound from the lock of that door, I smiled and said in the silence of my heart, “Thank you Lord”.
